Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction
The PodQuest Podcast Competition is designed to recognize and reward exceptional talent in podcasting. The competition will take place in Nairobi, Kenya, and aims to encourage innovation, effective marketing strategies, and social impact within the podcasting community.

2. Eligibility
• The competition is open to all residents of Kenya aged 18 to 35 years.
• Participants can enter as individuals or teams.
• Each participant or team is allowed to submit only one entry per category.
• The competition is open to anyone interested in the podcasting industry.
• Participants can submit new podcast ideas or their own existing podcast concepts.

3. Competition Categories and Awards
3.1 Idea Award
Criteria:
• Creativity and originality of the podcast concept.
• Clarity and feasibility of the idea.
• Potential for audience engagement and interest.
Award:
• Trophy: Customized with the competition’s logo and winner’s name.
• Mentorship: 3 months of professional mentorship from a renowned podcast producer.
• Marketing Package: Comprehensive package including social media strategy, initial ad budget, and promotional materials.
• Photoshoot: Professional photoshoot for promotional materials.
• Recording Space: Access to a professional recording studio for one season (8 episodes).
3.2 GTM Award
Criteria:
• Innovation and creativity in the marketing approach.
• Effectiveness of the strategy in reaching and engaging the target audience.
• Use of multiple marketing channels (social media, email, content marketing, etc.).
• Clear goals and measurable results.
Award:
• Trophy: Customized with the competition’s logo and winner’s name.
• Mentorship: 3 months of marketing consultation with a top industry expert in the podcast space.
• Marketing Package: Includes promotional materials design, a social media ad campaign, and a dedicated marketing budget.
3.3 Impact Award
Criteria:
• Contribution to societal issues or community engagement.
• Positive impact on listeners and the broader community.
• Evidence of listener feedback and engagement.
• Long-term potential for sustained impact.
Award:
• Trophy: Customized with the competition’s logo and winner’s name.
• Mentorship: 3 months of mentorship from a leading figure in social impact or community engagement with an existing podcast.
• Marketing Package: Includes a targeted campaign to highlight the podcast's impact, promotional photoshoot, and media outreach.
3.4 Other Awards
Other awards include:
• Audience Choice Award

4. General Rules
• All entries must be original and the sole property of the participants.
• Submissions must not contain any content that infringes on the rights of any third party.
• Participants must ensure their podcasts comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
• Youth Plus Africa reserves the right to disqualify any entry that violates these terms and conditions.

5. Submission Guidelines
Participants must submit a detailed podcast pitch outlining the following:
a. Podcast concept and target audience
b. Unique selling points and differentiation
c. Content format and production plans
d. Monetization strategy
e. Marketing and promotion plan
f. Submit a 90 second video OR audio
• Keep your pitch video/audio to 90 seconds or less.
• Start with your name and the title of your podcast.
• Clearly explain the concept and what makes your podcast unique.
• Be enthusiastic and engaging to capture the judges' attention.
• Ensure good lighting and clear audio
• Use this as an opportunity to stand out!
• Submit your pitch video by September 15th 2024.


Additional Notes
• Late submissions will not be accepted.
• Submissions must be in English or Swahili
• Participants may submit multiple podcast ideas.
• By submitting a pitch, participants agree to the terms and conditions of the competition
• All participants must ensure that their submissions are original and do not infringe on any copyright laws
• Youth+ Africa reserves the right to disqualify any submissions that do not adhere to the submission rules.

7. Judging Process
• Entries will be reviewed by a panel of judges with expertise in podcasting, marketing, and social impact.
• Judging will be based on the criteria outlined for each award category.
• Winners will be notified via email by the 22nd of September, 2024 and announced at the award ceremony.

8. Prizes and Winner Obligations
• Winners must be available for promotional activities related to the competition.
• Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
• Winners must adhere to any additional terms and conditions associated with the prizes.

9. Residency on Youth Plus Radio Podcast
• Winners of each category will be granted residency on the Youth Plus Radio podcast for the first season (8 episodes).
• Winners must collaborate with Youth Plus Radio to produce high-quality content for the podcast.

10. Intellectual Property
• Participants retain ownership of the copyright in their podcast entries.
• By entering the Competition, Participants grant the Youth Plus Radio a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, distribute, and display the podcast entries for promotional purposes related to the Competition.

11. Liability
• The Youth Plus Radio is not responsible for any technical issues, malfunctions, or other problems that may result in lost, incomplete, or misdirected entries.
• Participants agree to indemnify and hold the Youth Plus Radio harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from their participation in the Competition.

12. Privacy
• The Youth Plus Radio will collect and use Participants' personal information in accordance with the Organization's Privacy Policy as well as the Data Protection Act.
• By entering the Competition, Participants consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of their personal information for the purposes of administering the Competition and for any other purposes to which they have consented.

13. General
• The Youth Plus Radio reserves the right to amend these Terms at any time without prior notice.
• The Competition and these Terms are governed by the laws of Kenya.
• Any disputes arising from or related to the Competition shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.

13. Disclaimer
• Youth Plus Radio is not responsible for any technical issues or delays that may affect the submission process.
• Youth Plus Radio reserves the right to modify or cancel the competition at any time without prior notice.

Youth+ Radio is a podcast platform developed to be delivering on the Youth+ Africa
promise of to identifying, empowering, and mentoring young African entrepreneurs in their
roles as agents of change in society through creating content, building conversations, and
bringing to the forefront the inspiring entrepreneurs creating change not just in Kenya, but
across the continent

The competition is open to all residents of Kenya aged 18 and 35. Participants can
enter as individuals or teams (up to 3 members).

Yes, existing podcast concepts are eligible if the existing podcast concept has not yet
been launched any podcast episodes on any platform

There are no podcast categories in this competition. However, Awards will be given in categories which include:
1. Best Idea Award – This award recognizes the most innovative and engaging podcast idea and focuses on the originality and potential reach and scalability of the concept.
2. GTM Award – The winner of this award will have demonstrated the most exception go-to-market strategy, with the most creative marketing and promotional strategies developed to guarantee target audience engagement.
3. Impact Award – Our objective with this award is to recognize the idea with potential to leave a lasting and positive impact on society, with an effective ability to create awareness, inspire change or influence behavior for any given social matter.
4. Audience Choice Award – This will be decided on by the audience by a competition that will run 2 weeks prior to PodQuest 2024 DemoDay event.

Across the award categories, prizes include customized trophies, monetary prizes, mentorship, marketing packages, professional photoshoots, and recording of first season of podcast among other things

All submissions should be done by 13 th September 2024 on https://youthplusafrica.com/podquest2024/. Submissions sent on email or otherwise will be automatically disqualified.
